Fishbowl - good and bad experiences using the Business Model Canvas
Let's share techniques and learn from each others' experiences with the Business Model Canvas. Giff Constable had mentioned finding it a bit too heavy, and we'll also be joined by Lukas Fittl, who worked with Ash Maurya to create the Lean Canvas.
Giff and Lukas, it would be great if we could all have a discussion around our challenges and what approaches we tried. Up for it? Everyone else is welcome too!

Great! More tools and more heads to tackle challenges together. Bet this'll be a really useful session!

I would certainly be glad to share my perspective so far, although I don't want to get lost in a debate over tactics. I would like to see how people are using it effectively, since i have seen it used ineffectively. If you wish, I can share a different tool that I created (inspired by a single sentence Hiten once put up on the screen) that has been effective as a focusing and hypothesis-unearthing tool.

Very happy to chat about the BM canvas. Will share my experience from using it in our current startup (e.g. to facilitate Pivot or Persevere meetings), and how I've seen it used (and not used) at Startup Weekends.
One thing I'm particularly interested in is how to arrive at the BM canvas in the first place - as I've seen a lot of people struggle with formulating the value proposition and/or problem statements.
